Oh boy oh boy I’m in need of a serious updating apparently.

Same old story, between moving and wedding planning, my first new year’s resolution is lacking. It’s so hard to get your thought process rolling knowing that there’s a 99% chance you’re going to be interupted before the thought process even begins. Right now for example, Hanna Panda is playing peek a boo with me from the other side of the computer desk!

There’s an amazing workshop/project called The Momoir Project that I think could help really motivate my cause. Unfortunately their workshops in my area are a bit rich for my blood at the moment but they do have a great looking book full of writing exercises available for sale on their website so I just may pick it up. Other mom-blogs have also been super inspiring lately, especially the crafty ones. Yesterday while cleaning out the storage locker we came across my sewing machine that my mom bought me when I was… oh, in high school and wanted to learn to sew. However my short lived dreams were slayed by laziness and I never learned. Tomorrow though, our dear friend Jocelyn is coming over to grease her up and get her moving and hopefully I can try out a few of those things that inspired me, this being one of those things. I’ll let you know how it goes!

In Panda news, she’s still crawling all over the place at lightning speed. She’s so close to walking even though she doesn’t know it. If she doesn’t realize we’ve let go of her hand she stands all by herself for a good length of time before she falls on her butt. And she’s starting to push around her little car walker all by herself if she thinks we’re right behind her. Also I’m almost positive she’s getting her top teeth. I think they’re going up and down but I swear I can see them!

We’re still having problems on the solid food front. All she wants to do is breastfeed. It’s draining me so much, especially right now trying to fight this cold. She wants the boob all day, all night these past few days and has almost seemed to regress a bit on the food. She’ll eat pureed food, but she shows very little interest usually after the first few bites. We’ve tried scrambled eggs, toast, cooked bits of fruits, cottage cheese - but she mostly plays with it. It’s hard to tell how much she eats and how much she makes a mess with. Maybe it’s not problems, maybe I’m just stressing about it too much. It’s just getting hard for me when I think about going back to work for eight hour days and her not wanting to eat OR take a bottle. There’s nothing wrong with breastfeeding for however long is right for you and your baby, don’t get me wrong but I don’t want her to be dependent on my nursing her when I go back to work.

I would love if she would take a bottle or eat a substantial amount of food so as to skip a breast feed but I’m not going to force her. Hanna is extremely sensitive. We have tried being firm with her and she gets so upset it usually ends up with her holding her breath and violently vomiting and I’m just not willing to see my child like that. So I will continue to offer her a variety of different foods throughout the day, (I just cooked up a batch of pears and mangos!) and hope she starts getting the hang of it. Going back to work is just around the corner making me anxious and excited. I’m trying to figure out a jobshare situation with my coworker who’s also on maternity leave and I really hope it works out!

So now I’m off to curl up on the couch with Hanna and Syx and watch whatever’s going on on the Olympics and probably drink some tea to try to help this cold I seem to have come down with. Although standing out in the cold for the taping of The Colbert Report this morning didn’t help! (Photos of that are coming later with a proper photo update! Syx has been busy taking lots of photos and Hanna is getting huge!)
